1. Give yourself 15 minutes before start time
Set an alarm for 15 minutes before class starts. Be realistic with your time. If you need to commute home from the office set your reminder to include time to get home. This way you have time to follow the next 6 steps stress-free.
2. Sign up and download the Zoom App
There are benefits to using a computer, tablet, or phone. The Zoom App is compatible with all three, choose the one that makes sense for your space.
3. Clean your space
Put your laundry away, give the floor a quick sweep, and put away any dirty dishes. This is an act of self-care in itself, but it also serves to remove distractions. You don’t want to be smelling left-over food or worrying if other participants can see your pile of laundry while you’re trying to relax.
4. Gather your props
If you have yoga props at home that’s great! If not, you can find a video blog here where I demonstrate using common household items.
5. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in
It also helps to have an extra layer around (sweater, blanket, socks) in case your body temperature drops.
6. Have some water or tea on hand
You don’t want to get up and disturb your practice if you don’t need to.
7. Put your phone on “Do Not Disturb” mode
This is 1 hour you get to take for yourself, no disruptions. You deserve it!
**Bonus: Light candles, burn incense, put on your diffuser, and/or put on a gentle playlist
If you need inspiration for music, I’ve got a yoga playlist for you here.
