From the woman behind SCM...
I created She Climbs Mountains for myself. When I moved back to Campbell River after living abroad, I wasn't the same person. While I was away, I got into hiking, yoga, and rock climbing, so when I moved back, I didn't know anyone who was into those things. Like many women, I was bullied by a group of girls when I was young, which led to a deep sisterhood wound and a mistrust in groups of women. At my core, I wanted to be a part of a group, I wanted to feel like I belonged, but my mistrust in women always kept me at arms length and I never truly felt like I belonged. I felt lonely. So, I started hiking by myself. Even though I have climbed 4 of the 5 tallest peaks on the island solo, my heart still aches for sisterhood. But not for just any sisterhood—adventurous, conscious sisters who revere their connection to the land, value their personal relationships, and have a profound connection to the Universe. I created She Climbs Mountains for all of us.

About our unconventional methods...
She Climbs Mountains is a 3-month yoga, lifting, and hiking training program. Nicole and Jenna believe that the skills you learn inside the yoga and lifting classes extend into your life. Learning to walk away safely from something heavy. Being flexible and mindful. They are both excited to be offering a fitness program that isn't about weight loss or aesthetic, but rather about feeling good in your body, getting strong, and spending time in nature. They believe that when you expose yourself to difficult things and you persevere that you gain trust in yourself and your abilities. Becoming the kind of woman who can physically and emotionally climb mountains.

Hatha Yoga
Every Thursday from 12:00-1:00pm at Session Studio. Focused on preparing the body and recovering from lifting classes and hiking adventures. Your next adventure begins with recovery from the previous.
Lifting
On Tuesdays from 10:30-11:30am at Elevate, you will strength train to build a stable base for this adventure. You will find your edges, challenge your own limitations and surprise yourself.
Hiking
On the third Saturday of every month, we'll meet up for a group hike to the following locations:

May 25—Baby Bedwell
June 15—Kwaii Lake
Mountain Hiking Retreat
We'll celebrate your transformation, commitment, and sisterhood, culminating with an overnight hiking retreat up 5040 Peak. We'll camp at a luxury mountain cabin and prove to yourself what you're capable of.
Meet your instructors...
I am an adventurous, creative, and passionate woman deeply connected to the land and the Universe. I got into yoga and fitness to change my body because I hated the way I looked, but I had no idea that it would completely heal the parts of me that wanted to change my body. Yoga and mountaineering have been the ways that I've been able to heal my body image. I moved to SE Asia in 2016 to complete my 200hr YTT certification, which is also where I got into hiking. When I'm not teaching yoga you can find me outside climbing, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, surfing, or paddle boarding. As a yoga teacher, my cues are easy to follow and always start from the foundation and build up. I love helping women feel comfortable in their bodies and develop a deeper connection to self.
I am a woman deeply connected to the land all around us who values adventure, self love, and human connection. Fitness and strength training have been two of the ways I continue to grow and heal my connection to my body. I became a certified L1 CrossFit coach in 2018 and was blessed with the opportunity to coach a wide variety of athletes at Primal Athletics. I have birthed three babies, (mostly) healed from a severe spinal injury and continue to chase performance + strength goals in the gym. My favourite adventures include wild swimming, snorkelling, hiking, back road exploring, paddle boarding, mountain biking and travel. As a coach, I am skilled at explaining things in digestible form. I love helping women connect to their inner power and discover their strength.
